CONTROL EVERYTHING

Control the language, control the narrative, control the argument/debate in order to control society. Essentially it boils down to that. This is the game plan but this is not the first time that plan has been used. I believe you would find it in the greatest of propagandists the likes of Goebbels. Heck, it’s a ploy that’s likely been utilized since the invention of language itself. I can just see Caveman Dave changing the cave painting of him clubbing Plainsman Joe over the head with a log, to himself fanning Joe with a feather. Who wouldn’t want Dave, the servant, in control.

Like any good investigation it’s best to start at the end. So let’s explore the end first and then we will explore the process. The end game, objective, goal, however you want to say it, is to control society. By controlling society, an individual or a group, can maintain or increase their power/influence over society for their own benefit. This could be for things as sinister as being able to do whatever they want with whomever they want without repercussion. Or, it could be to have as much money as you could ever possibly need in order to live a lavish lifestyle only few on this Earth can experience. Maybe it’s an ego trip where your dominance is paramount or maybe another way of putting it is, the greed of power. Sometimes, it is done with the best of intentions when someone, or a group, works for what they deem are improvements. Whatever the driving force might be, there is always just that, a driving force.
So how would one go about controlling society as a whole. Well, you have to get everyone to think at least somewhat similar to the way you would like them to think. If your greatest obstacle can be marginalized, there are a great many ways to go about this manipulation of thought. In our society, US culture, we have held in high regard free speech and allowing others to speak their mind, and through debate and conversations the greater ideas will win out. But if you wanted to manipulate the debate in your favor, you could seek to change the narrative. And the way to change the narrative would be to control the language.

We’ll go back to the start for an example. I mean the start in regards to controlling the language. Most people when confronted with either not knowing what a word means or questioning their understanding of the word will seek confirmation or correction within the dictionary. And now that we’re in the digital age, and the dictionary is at your fingertips, it’s much easier for manipulation to be had by simply rewriting the definition of a word.

Take a word, any word, and change its meaning in the dictionary. The word fascism for instance. Since it’s so often misused, abused, and seems to have morphed into the modern day cry of “Witch!” Webster’s dictionary, copyrighted 1988, defines fascism in this manner, “A governmental system marked by a centralized dictatorship, stringent socioeconomic controls, and often belligerent nationalism.” And that is it. Nothing more. Nothing less. Basically the definition of Nazism.

Now let’s look at what I will find online as of today December 11, 2020. Doing a Bing search, I discover that fascism is “an authoritarian and nationalistic right wing system of government and social organization.” Right-wing? Because everybody knows that left-wing cannot be fascist.

Scrolling down within the Bing search and clicking on the link for Merriam-Webster’s definition, we find it is “a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.” Let’s focus on that part that says “nation and often race above the individual.” Because who do we most often hear about putting something above the individual? Maybe, “it takes a village” or the “collective”. The rights of the individual is what this country decided to protect in its origin. And those individual rights have been under assault ever since inception. By whom?

Here’s what a December 11, 2020 search on Google for the word fascism turns up: “Fascism is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultra-nationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.”

Scroll down just a little on the search engine Google and you’ll find this simple breakdown for you via Wikipedia: “What does fascism mean in simple terms? Fascism is a right-wing form of government in which most of the country’s power is held by one ruler. … Under fascism, the economy and other parts of society are heavily and closely controlled by the government, usually by using a form of authoritarian corporatism.”

So we discover, via Google, that fascism comes from the right side of the political spectrum. Funny how the left-wing seems to be incapable of fascism. At least this century. Especially since the left-wing embraces socialism in which “the economy and other parts of society are heavily and closely controlled by the government”, if not completely.

Here’s a great example of this manipulation of language in the modern real world. ANTIFA. A branch from the politically left-wing tree. Short for antifascist, ANTIFA is a misnomer. The group is anything but antifascist. The organization embraces the ”forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society .“ They repeatedly lash out with violence while claiming the other side to be fascistic, thereby attempting to justify their bad acts.

A much more complex example would be how early 20th century progressives, in an attempt to escape the shame of their failures, glomed onto the word liberalism. It has only been of recent, early in the 21st century, after dirtying the word liberalism beyond repair, that progressives have once again reclaimed their original title. Leaving most confused as to what true liberalism, classic liberalism, holds as its virtues. And soon enough, progressives will likely glom onto another respected title that they can soil.

So, by using the example of fascism, here is how you “CONTROL EVERYTHING” in a nutshell. Fascism no longer applies to all that are truly fascistic. Only the right-wing is capable of fascism (control the language). Label everything that comes from the right as fascist (control the narrative). With everything coming from the right wing labeled as fascistic, all debates or arguments from the right are disqualified as fascist (control the argument/debate). With most all opposition marginalized, set out to implement your agenda that will control society in a manner you deem appropriate (control society).

It is a tried and true manipulation. Accuse the other side of what you are doing. Dispel any notion that you are doing what you are actually doing. And confuse the ignorant.
